1.0.1 Version Update

Dear Partner!

In some cases, the operation of the validator node connected to the home internet network has affected the performance of the internet connection, even to the point that the node has to be disconnected. This problem can mostly cause temporary slowdowns or limited connection availability on other devices, but it can also affect the operation of the node by preventing the node from accessing the data it needs.

This error may also be related to the fact that a node is temporarily not visible, automatic updates do not occur or are delayed, it is not possible to remove the node from Chill, and other functions that worked flawlessly for a while, then broke down, and later repaired themselves.

To fix the internet problem indicated above, we released an update on October 27, which was installed on all computers that were turned on and had an internet connection by October 29.

If you are experiencing this issue, please check if the update has been installed on your node:

  1. Click on the button labeled Validator Dashboard in the top right of Explorer
  2. Select the name of your node, enter your username and password, then press the login button
  3. Check if you see the version number 1.0.1. for the Mosaic Stack version in the rectangle labeled “Installed Packages”
  • If you see the version number indicated above, then you have received the update, so all you have to do is check if your node is working correctly
  • We would also like to ask for feedback if your problem has been resolved and of course also if you are still experiencing high internet usageYour feedback is extremely important to us, because if you experience this phenomenon after the update, i.e. with Mosaic Stack version 1.0.1, we will need to investigate further.
  • If you do not see the version number above – 1.0.1. on the Validator Dashboard, then the update was not automatically installed on your node. In this case, you can install the update manually according to the instructions below.

Manually install the update (only do this if you do not see the version numbers above – 1.0.1. -!): You only need to do one of the 3 options below.

Start with option 1. and only if the update failed, move on to the next option! Option I (update via the Validator Dashboard):

Go to the Validator Dashboard (https://devnet-explorer.mosaicchain.io/sign-in )!

Option I. Select the name of the validator you want to update, enter your username and password, then click the Continue button to log in!

  1. In the upper right corner of the “Installed Packages” box, click the update button with the arrows, this will also allow you to manually update the Mosaic Stack.
  1. Wait 5-10 minutes, then reload the page and check if the Mosaic Stack version number 1.0.1 appears!
  2. If so, the update was successfully installed. Make sure your machine is in the “Active” state (if not, click the Unchill button), and then check if you experience any malfunctions!

If you still do not see the version number 1.0.1, then proceed to option II.!

Option II. (by issuing an update command directly on the validator machine):

  1. Connect a monitor and a keyboard to your validator machine!
  1. Turn on your node, if it is not already on!
  2. Log in to the validator machine:
  • When the login screen appears, type your username that you entered when installing the machine, then press the Enter key!
  • After that, the Password screen appears, in which case you must enter your password. For security reasons, the characters do not appear on the screen when you enter the password, but the keyboard still detects your keystrokes. What you need to do here is that when the system asks for the password, type it “blindly” and then press the Enter key! If you enter the correct password, it will allow you to continue.

After successful login, type the following command exactly as it is written below. It cannot start with a space and cannot end with a space, but you must type a space after the word “sudo”! When you have entered the command, you can indicate to the computer that you are finished typing and that it can execute the command by pressing the Enter key. The command to enter is: sudo /opt/mosaic/update-mosaic.sh

Wait 5-10 minutes, after which the node will automatically appear on the Devnet Explorer interface (https://devnet-explorer.mosaicchain.io/).

Go to the Validator Dashboard, log in, and then check in the “Installed Packages” box to see if you see the Mosaic Stack version number 1.0.1.

a. If yes, the update was successfully installed.

Make sure your machine is in the “Active” state (if not, click the Unchill button), and then check if you experience any malfunctions!

b. If you still do not see the version number 1.0.1, only then proceed to option III.!

Option III. (by issuing an update command directly on the validator machine, temporarily stopping the chain service):

  1. If you are not logged in on the validator machine, log in!
  1. After successful login, enter the following command exactly as it is written below. It cannot start with a space and cannot end with a space, but you must type a space after the word “sudo”. When you have entered the command, you can press Enter to tell the computer that you are finished typing and that it can execute the command. The commands to be entered are as follows (press Enter at the end of each line):sudo systemctl stop mosaic-chain-devnet.servicesudo /opt/mosaic/update-mosaic.shsudo systemctl start mosaic-chain-devnet.service
  2. Wait 5-10 minutes, after which the node will automatically appear on the Devnet Explorer interface (https://devnet-explorer.mosaicchain.io/).
  3. Go to the Validator Dashboard, log in, and check the “Installed Packages” box to see if you see Mosaic Stack version 1.0.1.

If so, the update has been successfully installed. Make sure your machine is in the “Active” state (if not, click the Unchill button) and see if you experience any errors!

If you still don’t see version 1.0.1, let us know right away and we’ll help you move forward! info@mosaicchain.io
